One question a day

Who are you thinking about?

Every other app asks what you’re doing. Whimzi asks who is on your mind, and you answer with names from your own contacts. Send someone a gift when you want them to know. Let a mutual answer wait safely in Mystery. No feed. No public profiles. Nobody you don’t already know.

  7. Your circle is people you already have. No search, no strangers.

How a day works

Some arrive as Gifts. Others wait in Mystery.

A gift arrives with your name. A mutual answer waits in Mystery. The app tells you which one you are choosing before anything happens, never after.

Gift

Let them know.

Choose a gift, or answer a one way daily question. It arrives with your name. They can let you know it landed, but nothing at all is expected from them.

A gift asks for nothing back.

Mystery

Let it wait for both of you.

Your answer is held. If they name you under the same question, you both get a grand reveal in the same moment. Otherwise your identity stays private. If they ask who, you alone decide whether to reveal it.

A match takes both of you.

Why hold anything back

Nobody has to go first.

Over nine in ten of us can name a friend we have lost touch with and would like to speak to again. Barely a third ever send the message. The reason is not that we forget.

Asked what stops them, people put the same thing first: they might not want to hear from me. A held answer removes exactly that. Going first costs nothing, because going first is invisible.

When somebody is there

You can ask who. They choose.

Mystery first shows the mutual answers you gave that are still waiting. Anonymous answers addressed to you appear only when enough different people are there to protect everyone’s identity.

You may ask who, once. The person can reveal themselves or stay a mystery. A reveal becomes a grand reveal and opens a private conversation. If they stay hidden, their name is never shown and you cannot ask again.

The rules

What Whimzi will never do.

The only reason anyone is willing to name someone here is that naming them is free. Every line below exists to keep it that way, and each one is enforced in the database rather than promised in an app.

Someone may already have told you.

People can name you before you have an account. Anything they chose to send is waiting the moment you arrive. Anything they held is still theirs.
