Terms of use

The short version, which is also the whole version.

Last updated 30 August 2026.

These terms are the agreement between you and Whimzi. They are written to be read rather than survived, and they say the same thing the app does. Using Whimzi means you accept them.

Who can use it

You need to be 16 or older and to have a phone number you control. One account per number. If you are somewhere that sets a higher age for a service like this, that higher age applies to you.

What you agree not to do

Do not use Whimzi to harass, threaten, or keep contacting somebody who does not want to hear from you. Do not add numbers belonging to people you do not actually know. Do not try to work out who named you by any route other than the ones the app offers, and do not try to enumerate, scrape or reconstruct other people’s numbers from anything the app sends you. Do not impersonate anybody.

We can suspend or remove an account doing these things, and we do not owe an explanation to somebody doing them deliberately.

What you put in

You keep whatever you write. You give us permission to store it and show it to the person it is addressed to, and to nobody else. We do not sell it, we do not train on it, and we do not read your messages except where we genuinely have to for safety or where the law requires it.

The private name you use for a contact, and their matching code, belong to your circle and are shown to no one.

What we promise, and what we do not

We promise the rules in the app are enforced in the database rather than described in the interface. A one-sided signal is not revealed. A reveal happens only because the person behind it chose it.

We do not promise the service is always available, that a message always arrives, or that anybody you name will ever join. Whimzi is provided as it is. We are not liable for what follows from a late notification, a match that never came, or a conversation that went somewhere you did not expect.

Money

Whimzi is free. There is nothing to buy, and there is deliberately no way to pay to learn who named you. If that ever changes, this page changes first.

Ending it

You can delete your account inside the app at any time, and it takes your circle, your answers, your matches and your messages with it. We can end your access if you break these terms. Nothing here survives that except the parts about liability, which do.

Changes

If these terms change in a way that matters, the app will say so rather than this page quietly updating. The date at the top is the honest one.
